Banana Dateline: March 15th

The Ides of March!

It's the day Julius Caesar was assassinated and the day Christopher Columbus returned safely to Spain after discovering America. More importantly, it is the day a certain yellow bundle of joy was delivered, draped in swaddling peel.

Many rock luminaries are fortunate enough to share their birthday with C.C. Banana. Featured immediately below are two such individuals with whom C.C. has had the privilege of working. Though the remainder have not yet had the pleasure of encountering the rock & roll fruit, all are banana birthday buddies in spirit! As such, feel free to visit their websites and inform them of just how lucky they are.

And be sure to tell them C.C. Banana sent you!

Bret Michaels
March 15th, 1963: Born today is the man who will one day sing of roses, thorns and bopping unskinny things. Bret has also been known to enjoy a good C.C. Banana video. And that's really the important thing, isn't it?

Dee Snider
March 15th, 1955: Unto the earth this day is spawned a creature neither man nor beast, he nor she, beautiful nor ugly. But whatever it is, it does indeed possess an impressive set of lungs! Remember, you can't stop rock & roll.

Sly Stone Rockwell Terrence Trent D'Arby
March 15th, 1944: Do you think people ever confuse Sly Stone with Sylvester Stallone? You know, because Sylvester also goes by the nickname "Sly" and it is often difficult for him to enunciate both syllables of his last name. Sylvester and the Family Stallone? That does have a nice ring to it. March 15th, 1964: Though he said he was just an average guy with an average life, Rockwell was in fact the son of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy. But does anybody really know what happened to him after 1984? If you can find this man's home page, you win a hug from his old friend Michael Jackson. March 15th, 1962: Terrence's initial claim to fame found him wishing on a wishing well, yet how he wound up changing his name to Sananda Maitreya is anybody's guess. Then again, he is pals with rock & roll enigma Prince. And we all know how much that guy loves to change his name...

Mike Love Phil Lesh Fabio
March 15th, 1941: One of our first and oldest rock & rollers, Mike is still belting 'em out with the best of them. If and when this icon ever retires, it will be a sad day in Bananaland. March 15th, 1940: Ummm... one of our first and oldest rock & rollers, Phil is still belting 'em out with the best of them. If and when this icon ever retires, it will be a sad day in Bananaland. March 15th, 1961: He may not be a rock star, but he sure has the hair for it! Plus, he nailed all those romance novel cover girls. That makes him a rock star in spirit.

Judd Hirsch
March 15th, 1935: Okay, just making sure you were paying attention. Though Judd is not in fact a rock & roller, his son Alex is quite the musician! Can you imagine that? He actually named his kid after his character from "Taxi!"
