Bootleg Banana Appears on VH1's BANDS REUNITED!

Rock & roll comic C.C. Banana, known for interviewing musicians while dressed as a large yellow fruit, would like to set the record straight regarding the November 11th broadcast of VH1's "Bands Reunited."

During the episode titled "Backstage Pass," it was revealed that David Steele of The English Beat had agreed to appear on the program, with the unusual provision that the interviewer be dressed in a banana costume. Yet despite the fact that show host Aamer Haleem did in fact don the unlikely yellow attire, Steele failed to honor his commitment, resulting in an aborted attempt at reuniting him with his former band mates.

"I'm not surprised that David Steele wouldn't appear on camera," explains C.C. Banana. "He was obviously hoping to be interviewed by ME! Steele was expecting the real peel, not some second banana. Why else would he make such an unorthodox request? Everyone knows that yours truly is the ORIGINAL rock & roll fruit!"

Even the episode title "Backstage Pass" is eerily similar to that of C.C. Banana's debut home video Backstage Banana, in which C.C. interviews members of such notable bands as Poison, Winger and Cinderella.

"There's only room for ONE lunatic interviewing rock stars in a banana suit," insists the flamboyant fruit. "And I'll be damned if that lunatic ain't gonna be ME!"

Ultimately, C.C. Banana is simply hoping to avoid undue confusion in the wake of the broadcast.

"I've already received a banana boatload of phone calls and e-mails, asking if I was somehow involved with this particular episode of 'Bands Reunited,'" continues C.C. "Honestly, I was as surprised as everyone else upon seeing the program. It's sort of like having someone else show up at a party wearing your exact same outfit. Aamer is a fine host but he's no C.C. Banana!"

C.C. Banana began life as a twisted homage to Poison guitarist C.C. DeVille, yet soon took on a life of his own. He again made news for his infamous nightclub showdown with former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach, and later for hosting (and surviving) the landmark MSX Tour, featuring Faster Pussycat, Enuff Z'Nuff and Pretty Boy Floyd. More recently, C.C. has introduced an evening with Bret Michaels at the B.B. King Blues Club in NYC and performed comedy alongside Howard Stern's resident celebrity impersonator Craig Gass. C.C. Banana has also appeared with Uranium's Juliya on Fuse TV and has even been profiled in the UK's "Classic Rock" magazine. C.C. Banana is perhaps best known for entertaining visitors of the popular Metal Sludge website with tales of his outlandish misadventures.

C.C. Banana's next live appearance will be on November 27th at rock club Double D's in Morristown, NJ when he hosts a show featuring his new friend Ted Poley of Danger Danger and Rocco Fury's American Angel. Further information about C.C. Banana is available at his website.
